Old houses with magnificent architecture, narrow alleys of sand and stone (some over 200 years old), Arab/Indian wooden carved doors. We start this tour at the town's main market, which opened in 1904, where tropical fruits, vegetables, spices, and fresh fish from the island are sold. Our next stop will be at the Anglican Church of Christ, built by Bishop Steers in 1873 on the site where slaves were auctioned. Other key points of our historic city tour include: a visit to the House of Wonders - a palace built in 1883 by the island's sultan, Forodhani Gardens where you can watch the sunset while enjoying locally prepared dishes: Zanzibari pizzas and barbecued seafood. + Visit to the Old Fort - built by the Portuguese.
